Sabudana khichdi

This dish is AmAr's favorite. He'd been asking me to prepare this since a long time. Decided to try it for dinner today. Not being a typical Karnataka dish, had difficulty in finding the recipe. I'm not a Maharashtrian, so my recipe might not be the authentic one. During the weekend was busy preparing for Dasara.

Ingredients: -
1 cup sabudana/sabakki
2 potatoes, chopped
2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
1/2 cup peanuts
1 tsp lemonade/fresh lemon juice
1 strand curry leaves
2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp mustard
1 tsp jeera/cumin
1/2 tsp turmeric
Coconut & coriander for garnishing
Salt
Oil

Method: -
1. Soak sabudana for a minimum of 4 hours or soak depending on the quantity. Do not pressure cook or microwave Sabudana as the end result will be not the desired one.
2. In a pan, add groundnuts & roast till they become brown. (Without oil)
3. Roll the groundnuts using a belan or with hands to remove the skin.
4. In a mixer, dry grind the groundnuts to get a coarse powder.
5. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard & cumin seeds.
6. When the mustard begins to pop, add curry leaves, green chilies & potatoes.
7. Add turmeric, salt & sugar & cook till the edges of the potatoes become a little brown.
8. When the potatoes are tender, add the groundnut powder & mix well.
10. Add the Sabudana after few minutes.
9. Cover the pan with a lid & cook for 5-10 minutes.
10. Garnish with coriander, coconut & add fresh lemon juice & serve hot.
